SCAM lunches for older people

A current scourge in our area are those who prey on vulnerable older people in an endeavour to steal their savings; this is burglary artifice and can result in tens of thousands being paid by an elderly person for a SCAM. The Panel have provided fish and chip lunches and bingo as an attraction for older people to come along and they are also given entertaining but focussed talks on the current scams and how to avoid them and what to do if they are approached.

The aim is enjoyment and learning which together re-assure those older people attending and help to deter crime.

Age UK recently published a report on this problem and you can read it here: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/latest-news/over-half-of-people-aged-65-targeted-by-fraudsters/
